The St. Patrick’s Festival is a multi day event which takes place annually on and around March 17th, the national holiday of Ireland. The festival programme predominantly comprises outdoor performances pieces and most events are free. One of the main focuses is the Parade, which includes pageant style performances especially commissioned by the festival. Around three thousand participants perform in the Parade, with 650,000 audience members lining the route and many millions around the world watching; acting as a showcase for Ireland and reinforcing the image and identity of the country worldwide.
The overall festival programme includes: large scale outdoor spectacle events including a pyrotechnic extravaganza, family activities, street theatre performance, the parade, music, dance, visual art , film, comedy & a few other surprises
